The House Armed Services Committee will launch a series of discussions on the U.S. pivot to Asia, called the Asia-Pacific Oversight Series, beginning with a press conference on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 11:00am. The four-month series will include full committee and subcommittee meetings, a meeting with Asian Ambassadors, and media events. The full press release is reproduced below.
Washington, D.C.–Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-CA) and Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) respectively Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee; together with Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces, Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA) Chairman of the Subcommittee on Readiness, Rep. Madeline Bordallo (D-GU), Ranking Member on the Readiness Subcommittee, and Rep. Colleen Hanabusa (D-HI); will host a media roundtable to preview the Committee’s upcoming oversight work with regard to the Asia-Pacific pivot. The Members are expected to preview a series of hearings and other committee engagements focused on the Administration’s “pivot to the Pacific” policy.
