Wuhan Blackbox: In President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address, he pointed out that “for the first time in over a decade, business leaders around the world have declared that China is no longer the world’s number one place to invest; America is.” However, there is a discrepancy between his speech and the facts: in comparison to other countries, the United States has always been the most attractive destination for foreign direct investment. In the total amount of $23 trillion global foreign direct investment, the United States accounts for nearly $4 trillion, which is about 17% of the total investment. On the other hand, China accounts for nearly $800 billion, which is about 4%.
