Wang Tan Wen: U.S. Secretary of Defense: The Japanese [should gain] actual control of the Diaoyu Islands, and stand against China to change the status quo. During the fourth dialogue between Itsunori Onodera, (Japan’s Minister of Defense,) and Chuck Hagel, (U.S. Secretary of Defense,) Itsunori Onodera explained the amendment of the Japanese Constitution to the U.S. government, as the Japanese are making it possible to exercise collective self-defense. Japan also adopted three principles on the transfer of defense equipment, relaxing restrictions on arms exports. Hagel welcomed the changes.

Comment: The United States openly supports Japan’s and the Philippines’ occupation of Chinese territory by supporting Abe’s constitutional amendment.
